One of the doors Located: 20 Spring Street, Melbourne I had been meaning to visit the inside of the building whenever I had visited Melbourne and this trip was the one time that I actually was able to do so. I had looked up the exhibitions before going there and wanted to see what it was like. It was worth seeing what it looks like on the inside The thick doorways to the vault The building itself is heritage listed and was completed in 1862, but shortage of funds meant the interior wasn’t completed until 1872. The old treasury building museum in Melbourne has vaults where gold had been stored during the gold rush and you can wander through the area, which has displays about the story of gold in early Victoria.
