The Old Treasury Building   Visited : 2025   Entry: Free. One of the doors Located: 20 Spring Street, Melbourne   I had been meaning to visit the inside of the building whenever I had visited Melbourne and this trip was the one time that I actually was able to do so. I had looked up the exhibitions before going there and wanted to see what it was like. It was worth seeing what it looks like on the inside   The thick doorways to the vault The building itself is heritage listed and was completed in 1862, but shortage of funds meant the interior wasn’t completed until 1872.   The old treasury building museum in Melbourne has vaults where gold had been stored during the gold rush and you can wander through the area, which has displays about the story of gold in early Victoria. There is a living space where the caretaker and family lived near the vaults.   The Deluge Water closet The main floor has exhibitions about the history of Melbourne i...

ABBA The Museum, Stockholm, Sweden

Visited: 2019 Museum type : Popular culture, history Location: Stockholm Highlights Open late. At the time it closed around 8pm Props from Mamma Mia movie The ABBA puppets from the music video Audio guide, though I cant remember if there was one when I visited in 2019 The displays are in English so isnt a problem in trying to translate the displays   I visited the museum in Stockholm on a whim late in the afternoon as I wasn’t sure what I would be expecting. The museum was more than my expectations since there were interactive displays and detailed information about the band members and their lives before during and after they broke up. I enjoyed myself looking at the displays especially when Australia was commented upon several times due to the weather and being attacked by moths. I wasn’t actually expecting to see the clothing worn in the Mamma Mia movies to be on display. Maybe it is better not having to know much about the band before visiting t...

Visited : 2019   Museum Type: Natural History Signage: English / German                               Cost: There is an entry fee   At the time I didn’t know much about the museum while visiting Frankfurt and I wanted to have a look at the dinosaur fossils. I was exploring the city near to where I was staying and the museum was on the way so I had to stop for a look. The museum was an enjoyable experience and there was coffee too. An example of the display information   The information about the displays like the dinosaurs are in both English and German. It also tells you if the remains are an original or a cast, and the location of the museum the original is located. It helped in telling me the location of the fossillised remains of the Archaeopteryx were held like in London and in Berlin museums, or if they were part of private collections. The museum has one...
